Widebeam Cratch Board and Cover
Cratch Boards help to maximise the living space on your front well deck area. Providing you with an extra 'room', it can really help to make you more comfortable, by giving you an additional seating area or storage space. Having a Cratch Board and cover could potentially free up some of your on board living area. Additional benefits to having a Cratch Board and cratch cover is that as well as having an extra sheltered area, it can also help to keep the cold draughts out, and if you have windows in your cratch cover, it will still allow natural light to come through to your narrowboat.
Our Cratch Boards, are manufactured using sepele mahogony and laminated glass. We take great care and attention to detail when making the finishing touches to our cratch boards. We use sikkens varnish to provide you with a long lasting, beautiful cratch board. We can provide them with or without a centre spar. Another option we offer is to have your cratch board manufactured with 'folding wings' to enable you to open the window.
Alternatively, you can have your cratch board manufactured, without the laminated glass and we can manufacture a front section out of your chosen material. This makes accessing the gas locker much easier!
We also offer the option to have a stainless steel framework instead of a wooden cratch board, which has to added benefit of being able to roll the front section up as well as being fully removable.
Cratch covers are manufactured over a cratch board to optimise the space at the front of your boat.
Windows and zips can be added to your preference, the most popular style is to have a window on each side and a zip on either side of the window, allowing you to roll up the middle section making access to your boat easier.
Window covers can be added giving you the flexibility of privacy or letting the light through.
Providing an impressive amount of additional, usable space i.e. laundry, storage room or an extra sleeping area. This cover is made to your height requirements to enable you to stay dry whilst cruising. The framework is designed to allow you to fold it down in minutes. Windows are in the front, back and in the side panels, the side panels are removable and a roll up section comes as standard at the rear of the cover for steering purposes. Zips can also be added to the front of the cover to enable you to roll this section up as well. This cover is manufactured with a separate skirt/dodger around the rail, allowing you to keep the skirt in place if you wanted to take the cover down completely.
A dodger or skirt can be manufactured to provide protection from the winds. As an additional benefit it can act as a deterrent for small children and pets on-board.
